Bronze category in Darrel Chong Student Activity Award 2020

IEEE IIT Mandi won the prestigious award for organising IEEE Awareness talk and IEEE Project for Kids: Renewable Energy for Future. The purpose of this recognition system serves to change the mindset of our student groups, from being number-driven to becoming value-driven and to acknowledge exemplary student activities around the world. The goal is to improve the quality of activities and to foster knowledge sharing among students.

2nd IEEE R10 position

Power and Electronics Society (PES) Chapter, IEEE IIT Mandi secured 2nd position in IEEE Region R10 (Asia and Pacific) for achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals by doing several humanitarian activites and technical activites for the benefits of the local community.

The purpose of the IAS Chapter Web Contest is to recognize creative and well- designed IAS chapter websites. The websites are evaluated based on design, layout, functionality and overall impression.

1st Prize, Mr. Virendra Singh, MTech (PED) for MTech thesis on Integrated On-board Battery Charger for Plug-in Electric Vehicles, guided by Dr. Narsa Reddy and Dr. Bharat Singh Rajpurohit

To be considered as a recipient of the IAS Student Thesis Contest Award, the candidate’s thesis must have successfully been defended within two calendar years prior to the submission date and be relevant to the scope of the IA-Society. The candidate should be an IEEE IAS student or higher-grade member for at least one year before the contest submission.
Mr. Singh received B.Tech degree in electrical engineering from Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya Haridwar, Uttrakhand in 2017 and the M.Tech. degree in power electronics and drives from the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi), Himachal Pradesh, in 2019. Currently he is working as project associate in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)Madras. He is student member of IEEE since November 2017. His areas of research interest are; power electronic converters, electrical drives, smart grid, microgrid, electric vehicles, energy storage system, renewable energy, and power quality.

Mr. Nikhil Tanaji Doiphode, MTech (EEM) was awarded 2nd Prize for MTech thesis on Stator Winding Fault Diagnosis in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor guided by Dr. Bharat Singh Rajpurohit

3rd Prize, Mr. Gaurav Gautam, MTech (PED) for MTech thesis on Acoustic Noise and Vibration Reduction in PMSM Drive guided by Dr.Bharat Singh Rajpurohit

Mr. Gautam received his B. Tech. degree in electrical engineering from Himachal Pradesh University, India, in 2014 and M. Tech. degree in electrical engineering with specialization in power electronics and drives from Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, India, in 2019. Currently, he is working with R&D wing of Electronics and Electrical Engineering department of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. His research interest includes power quality, Grid connected operation, drive and its control, MMC and its applications. He is also a student member of IEEE, IAS.

The purpose of the IEEE I AS Outstanding Chapter Award is to recognize the exceptional performance of I AS Chapters in serving their members and technical community ty and establishing good will for the Industry Applications Society.
Nomination and Selection Procedure:
To be considered for any of the above awards, this form must be completed describing activities and associated contributions made by the relevant chapter during the activity period 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2019.This activity should also be supported with appropriate attachments e.g. meeting programs, newsletters, articles or website addresses.

Outstanding student volunteer award in 2019 from IEEE Delhi section (Mr. Rajesh Pindoriya)

Outstanding Student Volunteer Award is awarded to one Student Member from each Student Branch each year to encourage and appreciate fellow volunteers for their commendable spirit of volunteerism in IEEE. This award encourages Student Members to engage and volunteer more in IEEE. The award is open to all IEEE Student Members. The Branch Counselor will nominate and forward the name of the Best Student Volunteer from their Student Branch. The Academic performance, Extracurricular activities and Volunteering experience shall be considered for nomination.

Dr . J. K. Pal Award is awarded to one Student Member from each Student Branch each year to appreciate and recognise young, experienced, talented student members volunteering in their Student Branch. This award in stills a sense of responsibility in the student members and an inspiration to achieve this goal. The award is restricted to Final Year IEEE Student Members. The Branch Counselor will nominate and forward the name of the Best Student Volunteer from their Student Branch. Myron Zucker Design Contest 2016

The Myron Zucker Undergraduate Student Design Contest is open to all IEEE Undergraduate student members. The contest includes two separate categories, individual design contest and team design contest. The selected projects will be awarded by cash prizes, department prizes and travel aids to attend the IAS Annual Meeting.

World wide 3rd prize (400 USD for team and 300USD to college) and up to 2000 USD travel allowance to USA to attend the Annual conferences of IEEE IAS in Portland.
