About Us

IEEE IIT Mandi is a student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). We are a student-run organization at the IIT Mandi, our motives are to find ourselves and our passions, to have fun and meet new people, gather new experiences, to learn industrial skills to enhance ourselves, to learn about research and innovation in technology, to help our community and to get inspired to change the world!

What is IEEE?

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, or IEEE, is a technical professional organisation. While it has electrical and electronics engineering at its core, it’s composed of engineers, scientists and other professionals, who have interests in electrical and computer sciences, engineering, and varied, but related disciplines. It’s dedicated to fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. It does so by sponsoring conferences, publishing transactions, journals, and magazines, developing standards, and through its educational programs. It’s the largest professional association in the world !

Socities in IIT Mandi

The IEEE Industry Applications Society is the society of IEEE that concerns itself with advancements, theoretical and practical, in electrical and electronic engineering, applied to industry and commerce. Along with that, it addresses energy conservation practices, and creation of industrial engineering standards. It organises conferences, and events to disseminate technical information to its members, and keep them updated on developments in the field.

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society's has ‘scientific, literary and educational endeavours. It seeks advancements in fundamental and applied research in robotics and automation engineering and science. That means, it supports research into intelligent and adaptable systems in unstructured environments, and efficiency and reliability of systems in structured environments, among other things.

The IEEE Women in Engineering(WIE) is the society of IEEE that concerns with the women related to IEEE. It is one of the largest international organizations dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists, it's motive is to inspiring girls around the globe to follow their academic interests in a career.

The IEEE Power Electronics Society has facilitated and guided the development and innovation in power electronics technology. The PELS Society is dedicated to Upholding the vital scientific and educational aspects of power electronics and its applications and Keeping its members around the globe up to date on state-of-the-art technological developments and advances in power electronics research.

The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society undertakes technical activities that address advancements in industrial and manufacturing processes through electronics and engineering sciences - for example, the application of intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, data acquisition and signal processing, power electronics etc. to better manufacturing processes. IES has its roots in IRS, which was one of the two original societies whose merger led to the formation of IEEE.

The IEEE Power & Energy Society provides the world's largest forum for sharing the latest in technological developments in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating members of the industry and the general public. Members of the Power & Energy Society are leaders in this field, and they — and their employers — derive substantial benefits from involvement with this unique and outstanding association.

The IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT) is an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) program, instituted by the IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee (HAC). IEEE SIGHT is a global network of groups consisting of IEEE members and volunteers who identify and address local problems by applying their technical skills and partnering with their local communities.
